East Rand Computers was started by me, Dean, in the early days of 2022. I've been into computers from day one when I was gifted a hand-me-down PC, and I've been grateful ever since that day and never looked back. If it were not for that hand-me-down from my old man, I probably would have never gotten into computers and technology as much as I have. It's what drove me to the direction I have taken to this day.
In the mid-2000s, when all of my friends had their PS2 consoles, I was the one with the big ol' CRT monitor and desktop computer running Windows XP, ya know, the one in that classic beige colour? Computers were me then, and that's still me to this day.
With all my personal computers ranging from ChromeOS-only Google Chromebox PCs converted to Windows-based PCs (fun fact - the same PC used to build this very website with!) to full-blown, RBG-infested gaming computers, MacBook laptops, and Windows laptops ranging from Windows XP through to Windows 11.

I remember building my own "gaming" PC back in early 2010 using second-hand parts assembled from random components from different computers.
The CPU came out of those small form-factor Dell Optiplex office PCs - a Core2 Duo E8400. The RAM was two different mismatched 2 x 2 GB sticks of DDR2 667, a brand new MSI G31TM-P21 motherboard (with a red PCB) and a brand new ATI Radeon HD 5670 1 GB graphics card (also with a red PCB, naturally, to match the aforementioned motherboard colour scheme).
It served me well for a few years in all my gaming adventures and was once even used to watch TV on it back when I installed one of those TV tuner cards in it.

As a fact, I've still got that same PC to this day, albeit with a modernised PC case by cutting and modding the original 2010 case and spray-painting it white, with white LED lighting strips, acrylic front and side panels, a switch-over to 8 GB of DDR3-1600 RAM, and an upgraded quad-core Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 that was repurposed and dedicated to performing web scraping tasks a few years back.
It has since been decommissioned and is sitting in the cupboard where all older computers seem to live out the rest of their lives in retirement.

East Rand Computers has a heavy hands-on approach with computers, game consoles, smartphones and tablets, and some random in-between general electronics now and then.
The goal is to offer a service that keeps your computers, gaming consoles, smartphones, tablets and the like in tip-top condition to keep them working for you a little longer, saving you money and keeping them from landing as e-waste in a landfill somewhere.
The mission is to fix and maintain as much as possible. That is why East Rand Computers offers services for computers, including cleaning and maintenance, PC builds and upgrades, replacement PC hardware, PC repairs from both a hardware and software/OS perspective, the same for game console repairs and maintenance, as well as repairs and services for your smartphones and tablets you use on the daily.
